Here's the simple version: oat and barley beta-glucans (the gel-forming fiber that helps lower cholesterol) may also nudge your blood pressure down a bit on their own. Since fosinopril is already working to relax your blood vessels and lower your pressure, stacking the two could add up. The result might be readings that dip a little lower than expected.

If your blood pressure drops too far, you could feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or wobbly when you stand up quickly. To be fair, this is based on weak, mostly theoretical evidence, and the effect is usually mild. The amount of beta-glucans in a bowl of oatmeal is unlikely to cause trouble, but concentrated supplements are worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Fosinopril Used For?

Brand name: Monopril

Fosinopril Sodium tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). They can be used alone or combined with a water pill (diuretic) when blood pressure needs more control.

Fosinopril Sodium tablets are also used as part of a treatment plan for heart failure, added on top of other standard therapies such as diuretics, with or without digitalis.
