Isavuconazonium Sulfate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) interacts with.

Theoretically, BMPEA might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.

Here's the basic idea. Your antifungal, isavuconazonium (Cresemba), is cleared from your body largely by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab studies, BMPEA appears to block that enzyme by a little over a third. If that holds true in people, it could slow how fast you clear the drug, letting levels creep up. That might mean more of the usual side effects, like headache, nausea, stomach upset, or liver enzyme changes.

I want to be honest though: this is theoretical, based only on test-tube data, so the real-world risk isn't well known. My bigger concern is BMPEA itself. It's an unapproved amphetamine-like stimulant that can raise heart rate and blood pressure, and I'd steer clear of it. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Isavuconazonium Used For?

Cresemba (isavuconazonium sulfate) is used to treat two serious, life-threatening fungal infections: invasive aspergillosis and invasive mucormycosis. These infections can spread through the body and are most dangerous in people with weakened immune systems.

Cresemba for injection is approved for adults and children 1 year of age and older. Cresemba capsules are approved for adults and children 6 years of age and older who weigh at least 16 kilograms (about 35 pounds).
