Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) + Istradefylline
Istradefylline brand name: Nourianz.
Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) has a moderate interaction with Istradefylline. Theoretically, BMPEA might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Istradefylline
Istradefylline falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) interacts with.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA inhibits CYP3A4 by up to 37%.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version for Nourianz (istradefylline): your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break this medicine down. Lab studies suggest BMPEA may slow that enzyme down a bit (by roughly a third in a test tube). If that happened in real life, istradefylline could build up more than expected, which might mean stronger side effects like nausea, dizziness, trouble sleeping, hallucinations, or unwanted movements (dyskinesia).
I'll be honest, this is theoretical and based only on lab work, not on people, so the real-world risk is uncertain. The bigger concern, though, is BMPEA itself. It's an amphetamine-like stimulant that can raise heart rate and blood pressure, and it's often hidden in supplements. I'd steer clear and check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Istradefylline page
“Istradefylline (Nourianz) is added to levodopa to trim the daily 'off' time of Parkinson's disease, and its supplement list deserves genuine care. Most of the 138 ingredients here can change how the liver enzyme CYP3A4 handles the drug, so blood levels may drift too high or too low.”

About Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea)
What is Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea)?
- Weight loss
- Pre-workout energy
- Athletic performance
- Appetite suppression
- Mental focus
Beta-methylphenethylamine (BMPEA) is a synthetic stimulant chemically similar to amphetamine that has been found in some weight-loss and sports supplements, often without being clearly listed on the label. It is not an approved or well-studied dietary ingredient, and regulators have warned that it may carry real cardiovascular risks. Because of safety concerns and the lack of human research, it is best avoided.
