Pomalidomide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) interacts with.

Theoretically, BMPEA might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA inhibits CYP3A4 by up to 37%.

Here's the basic idea with these two together. Your body clears pomalidomide (Pomalyst) partly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab testing, BMPEA appears to slow that same enzyme down by about a third. If that holds true in people, your body might break down pomalidomide a little more slowly, letting more of it build up over time.

With a cancer drug like this, higher levels could mean more of its known side effects, things like low blood counts, fatigue, infections, or a higher risk of blood clots. I'll be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based only on lab work, not real patient studies. On top of that, BMPEA is an unapproved stimulant that can strain your heart, so I'd steer clear of it entirely. Please run any supplement past your oncology team first.

Beta-methylphenethylamine (BMPEA) is a synthetic stimulant chemically similar to amphetamine that has been found in some weight-loss and sports supplements, often without being clearly listed on the label. It is not an approved or well-studied dietary ingredient, and regulators have warned that it may carry real cardiovascular risks. Because of safety concerns and the lack of human research, it is best avoided.

What Is Pomalidomide Used For?

Brand name: Pomalyst

Pomalidomide capsules are used in adults with multiple myeloma (a blood cancer affecting plasma cells) who have already tried at least two prior treatments — including lenalidomide and a proteasome inhibitor — and whose disease has continued to progress. It is given in combination with dexamethasone for this use.

Pomalidomide capsules are also used to treat Kaposi sarcoma (KS) — a cancer that can cause lesions on the skin and in internal organs — both in adults with AIDS-related KS after antiretroviral therapy has stopped working, and in adults with KS who are HIV-negative. The KS indication was approved based on response rate; ongoing studies are confirming long-term benefit.
