Biofeedback + Cefazolin
Cefazolin brand name: Ancef.
Biofeedback has a moderate interaction with Cefazolin. There is some concern that electroencephalogram (EEG) biofeedback might lower the seizure threshold in some patients.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
SEIZURE THRESHOLD LOWERING DRUGS
Why this applies to Cefazolin
Cefazolin falls under SEIZURE THRESHOLD LOWERING DRUGS — the group Biofeedback interacts with.
Some drugs that lower the seizure threshold include anesthetics (propofol, others), antiarrhythmics (mexiletine), antibiotics (amphotericin, penicillin, cephalosporins, imipenem), antidepressants (bupropion, others), antihistamines (cyproheptadine, others), immunosuppressants (cyclosporine), narcotics (fentanyl, others), stimulants (methylphenidate), theophylline, and others.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the connection in plain terms. Cefazolin (Ancef) is a cephalosporin antibiotic, and like other drugs in this family, it can very slightly lower the brain's seizure threshold, meaning it can make seizures a tiny bit easier to trigger in certain people. Certain types of EEG biofeedback (neurofeedback) have also been linked, in theory, to lowering that threshold. Stacking the two could in theory raise seizure risk a bit.
That said, this is mostly theoretical and the evidence is weak. For most people getting a short course of cefazolin, this is very unlikely to be a problem. If you have a history of seizures or are doing neurofeedback, it's worth a quick mention to your doctor or pharmacist so they can keep an eye on things.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.
- AHigh-quality meta-analysis (quantitative systematic review).
- BCase-control study.
- CConsensus.
- DAnecdotal evidence.

“Cefazolin (Ancef), an antibiotic given by injection, usually before surgery or for skin and bloodstream infections, carries 43 supplement interactions on file, and the two rated major are where I would start reading. Siberian cocklebur and asarabacca can each damage the kidneys, the same organ that clears cefazolin, and asarabacca is f…”

About Biofeedback
What is Biofeedback?
- Chronic pain
- Headaches and migraines
- Anxiety and stress
- High blood pressure
- Urinary incontinence
- Tension and muscle relaxation
Biofeedback is a mind-body technique, not an herb or supplement. It uses sensors to show you real-time information about body functions like heart rate, muscle tension, or skin temperature so you can learn to control them. It is generally very safe and has reasonable evidence for headaches, certain pain conditions, and pelvic floor problems, but it works best alongside standard medical care.
About Cefazolin Injection
What Is Cefazolin Injection Used For?
Brand name: Ancef
Cefazolin is an antibiotic. It treats infections caused by susceptible bacteria in adults and in children 1 month of age and older, when the right dose can be given with the product used.
It is also used in adults to help prevent infection around surgery. One cefazolin and dextrose product is also supported for surgical prevention in children aged 10 to 17. It does not work for viral infections.

Cefazolin Is Linked to Lower Levels of 7 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Cefazolin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Biofeedback — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
