Here's the gist with naratriptan (Amerge) and bitter orange. Naratriptan already works by tightening blood vessels, and on rare occasions triptans can nudge your heart rhythm or raise blood pressure. Bitter orange contains synephrine, a stimulant that can also bump up your heart rate and blood pressure. Put together, the theory is that the two could add up and, in sensitive people, stretch the heart's electrical timing (the QT interval), which in rare cases can lead to an irregular heartbeat.

I want to be honest about the strength here: this is mostly theoretical, backed by a single case report, often when bitter orange was mixed with other stimulants like caffeine. So it's not a strong, proven danger for most folks. Still, if you have heart issues, high blood pressure, or feel palpitations, chest discomfort, or dizziness, check in with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Naratriptan tablets are used to treat migraine headaches — with or without aura — when a migraine is already happening. It is a rescue treatment, meaning you take it during an attack, not daily to prevent migraines.

It is not used to prevent migraines, and it has not been proven effective for cluster headaches. Naratriptan should only be used when a doctor has clearly confirmed a diagnosis of migraine.
