Atorvastatin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Bulbine Natalensis interacts with.

Theoretically, Bulbine natalensis stem might reduce the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Bulbine natalensis stem extract induces CYP3A4 mRNA expression and enzyme activity. Theoretically, this may increase the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates, but this has not been studied in humans.

Here's the gist for atorvastatin and Bulbine natalensis. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help process atorvastatin. In lab dish studies (not in people), Bulbine natalensis seemed to speed up that enzyme. If that holds true in the body, your system could clear atorvastatin a bit faster, which might lower its blood-thinning of your cholesterol numbers and make it work less well. In plain terms, your LDL ('bad' cholesterol) could creep back up over time.

I want to be honest: this is only a theoretical concern based on test-tube data, not human research, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, before pairing these, check with your pharmacist or doctor, especially since this supplement has raised liver safety questions of its own.

About Atorvastatin

What Is Atorvastatin Used For?

Atorvastatin is used alongside a healthy diet to lower LDL ("bad") cholesterol, triglycerides (blood fats), and other harmful lipids, while raising HDL ("good") cholesterol. It treats primary hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol), mixed dyslipidemia (mixed abnormal blood fats), hypertriglyceridemia (high triglycerides), and inherited conditions such as heterozygous and homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia — including in children aged 10 and older.

Beyond cholesterol control, atorvastatin is used to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, revascularization procedures, and angina (chest pain) in adults with coronary heart disease or multiple risk factors for it — including adults with type 2 diabetes who have risk factors for heart disease even without a confirmed heart disease diagnosis.
