Ropivacaine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Bulbine Natalensis interacts with.

Theoretically, Bulbine natalensis stem might reduce the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Bulbine natalensis stem extract slightly induces CYP1A2 mRNA expression and enzyme activity. Theoretically, this may increase the metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates; however, this has not been studied in humans.

Here's the gist: ropivacaine (Naropin) is a local anesthetic, the kind of numbing medicine used during surgery, epidurals, or nerve blocks. Your body clears it partly through a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. Lab studies hint that Bulbine natalensis may slightly speed up that enzyme, which in theory could clear ropivacaine a bit faster and make the numbing wear off sooner or feel weaker.

I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. This comes only from test-tube and animal work, never from real people, so it's more of a theoretical concern than a proven problem. Ropivacaine is also given by a clinician who watches how you respond, so any difference would likely be caught and adjusted. Still, please tell your anesthesia team or pharmacist about any supplements before a procedure.
