Invokamet XR combines two diabetes medicines, canagliflozin and metformin, that work together to lower your blood sugar. The concern here is pretty simple: in animal studies, certain compounds in bupleurum (called saikosaponins) actually nudged blood sugar upward. If that happened in people, it could work against your medication and make it harder to keep your numbers in range.

I want to be honest, though, this is a theoretical worry based only on animal research, not real-world human cases. Still, if you notice signs of higher blood sugar (more thirst, frequent urination, fatigue) after starting bupleurum, mention it. Before adding this herb, it's worth a quick chat with your doctor or pharmacist so we can keep an eye on your glucose readings.
