Here's the gist with inhaled insulin (Exubera) and bupleurum. Inhaled insulin works the same way as injected insulin: it lowers your blood sugar. The concern on file is that bupleurum might work against it. In animal studies, compounds in bupleurum called saikosaponins seemed to raise blood glucose. If that happened in people, your insulin could feel like it's not pulling its weight, leaving your sugar running higher than usual.

I want to be honest, though: this is purely theoretical and based on animal research, not real patients, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, if you take this herb, check your blood sugar a bit more closely and loop in your doctor or pharmacist before starting or stopping anything.
