Cannabinol (cbn) and Acetaminophen, Dextromethorphan, Pseudoephedrine

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.

Why this applies to Acetaminophen, Dextromethorphan, Pseudoephedrine

Acetaminophen, Dextromethorphan, Pseudoephedrine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2E1 (CYP2E1) SUBSTRATES — the group Cannabinol (cbn) interacts with.

Theoretically, cannabinol might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2E1 substrates.
In vitro research shows that cannabinol potently inhibits CYP2E1 enzymes. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the piece worth knowing about this combo cold-and-flu product: the part that matters most is the acetaminophen (Tylenol). One of the backup pathways your liver uses to process acetaminophen is an enzyme called CYP2E1. In lab dish studies, CBN appears to block that enzyme fairly strongly. In theory, slowing it down could let more acetaminophen linger, which is a concern because acetaminophen in excess can stress the liver.

That said, this is only test-tube and animal data, and it has never actually been seen in real people. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but I would be careful not to exceed the labeled acetaminophen dose and skip alcohol while using it. If you take CBN regularly, give your pharmacist a quick heads-up before pairing it with this product.
