Nicardipine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) INHIBITORS — the group Cannabinol (cbn) interacts with.

Theoretically, CYP3A4 inhibitors might increase the levels and clinical effects of cannabinol.
In vitro research shows that CYP3A4 enzymes are involved in the 8-hydroxylation of cannabinol. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the key thing to know: in this pairing, it's the nicardipine that may affect the CBN, not the other way around. Nicardipine blocks an enzyme in your liver called CYP3A4, and lab studies suggest that same enzyme helps break down CBN. So when they're taken together, CBN could clear more slowly and build up a bit, which might make its effects (like drowsiness or grogginess) feel stronger.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. It comes only from test-tube research, and it has never actually been reported in real people. So treat it as a theoretical heads-up, not a red alert. Since cannabis products vary so much in quality and dose, it's still worth running it past your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

What Is Nicardipine Used For?

Nicardipine treats high blood pressure (hypertension). It comes as an oral capsule and as an intravenous (IV) injection given in a medical setting.

Nicardipine capsules are also used to manage chronic stable angina (chest pain brought on by effort). The IV injection products (Cardene I.V. and other nicardipine injections) are for short-term treatment of high blood pressure when oral therapy is not feasible.
