Buproprion, Dextromethorphan falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2B6 (CYP2B6) SUBSTRATES — the group Cannabinol (cbn) interacts with.

Theoretically, cannabinol might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2B6 substrates.
In vitro research shows that cannabinol potently inhibits CYP2B6 enzymes. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Auvelity is a combination of bupropion and dextromethorphan. Here, the bupropion piece is the part to watch. It's broken down in part by a liver enzyme called CYP2B6, and lab studies suggest CBN can block that enzyme. If that blocking happened in real life, bupropion could build up and you might notice more of its typical effects, like trouble sleeping, dry mouth, jitteriness, a racing heart, or in higher amounts a greater seizure risk. The dextromethorphan side could also linger a bit longer, sometimes causing dizziness.

The important caveat: this is only a test-tube finding and has never actually been reported in people, so it stays theoretical. Still, since both ingredients affect the brain, it's smart to check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing CBN with Auvelity.
