Lapatinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) INHIBITORS — the group Cannabinol (cbn) interacts with.

Theoretically, CYP3A4 inhibitors might increase the levels and clinical effects of cannabinol.
In vitro research shows that CYP3A4 enzymes are involved in the 8-hydroxylation of cannabinol. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the simple version: this interaction is really about what lapatinib (Tykerb) might do to the CBN, not the other way around. Lapatinib is a CYP3A4 inhibitor, meaning it slows down one of the liver enzymes that helps break down cannabinol. In theory, that could let CBN build up a bit more in your body, making its sleepy, mellowing effects feel stronger.

I want to be honest about the evidence, though. This is based only on lab (test tube) research, and it has never actually been reported in people. So it's more of a 'good to know' than a real alarm. Still, since lapatinib is a serious cancer drug and CBN products vary a lot in quality, please check with your oncologist or pharmacist before adding it. Don't change anything on your own.

About Lapatinib

What Is Lapatinib Used For?

Brand name: Tykerb

Lapatinib tablets — sold under the brand name Tykerb — are used to treat advanced or metastatic breast cancer in patients whose tumors overexpress the HER2 protein. They are always used in combination with another medicine, not alone.

Tykerb is approved in combination with capecitabine for HER2-positive advanced or metastatic breast cancer in patients who have already received prior treatment including an anthracycline, a taxane, and trastuzumab, and whose disease has progressed on trastuzumab. Tykerb is also approved in combination with letrozole for postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive, HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer when hormonal therapy is appropriate.
