Tamoxifen Citrate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Cannabinol (cbn) interacts with.

Theoretically, cannabinol might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2C9 substrates.
In vitro research shows that cannabinol potently inhibits CYP2C9 enzymes. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the thing with tamoxifen: it's actually a prodrug, meaning your body has to convert it into its active form before it can do its job fighting breast cancer. Several liver enzymes help with that, including CYP2C9. Lab studies suggest CBN may block (inhibit) CYP2C9 fairly strongly. In theory, slowing that enzyme could change how much active tamoxifen your body makes, which is why it earns a closer look.

I want to be honest about the evidence though. This comes only from test-tube research, and it has never been reported in real people. Still, tamoxifen is far too important to leave anything to chance. Please don't start, stop, or adjust anything on your own. Just loop in your oncologist or pharmacist before adding CBN so they can weigh in for your situation.

What Is Tamoxifen Used For?

Brand names: Nolvadex, Soltamox

Tamoxifen is used to treat estrogen receptor-positive metastatic breast cancer in both women and men, and as follow-up (adjuvant) therapy after surgery for early-stage breast cancer in women. It also reduces the occurrence of cancer in the opposite breast when used as adjuvant therapy.

In women with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS — an early, non-invasive breast change) following surgery and radiation, tamoxifen lowers the risk of developing invasive breast cancer. It is also approved to reduce the risk of breast cancer in women who are at high risk but have not yet been diagnosed. Both Tamoxifen Citrate tablets and Soltamox oral solution share these indications.
