Metformin Hydrochloride falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Chirata interacts with.

Theoretically, taking chirata concomitantly with antidiabetes drugs may increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In non-fasted animals pretreated with the hypoglycemic drug tolbutamide, taking chirata 250 mg/kg decreased blood glucose levels. Monitor blood glucose levels closely.

Here's the gist: chirata may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own. When you pair it with metformin, which is already working to bring your glucose down, the two could add up and push your blood sugar lower than you want. Metformin itself rarely causes lows on its own, but stacking another sugar-lowering agent on top can tip the balance.

I'll be honest about the evidence here: this is theoretical, based on an animal study using a different diabetes drug, not human data. So I'm not ringing alarm bells. Still, if you do try chirata, watch for signs of a low (shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion) and check your glucose more often. Please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before adding it.
