Abciximab falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Cilantro interacts with.

In vitro research suggests that extracts of cilantro can inhibit platelet aggregation. Theoretically, cilantro might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs. Some of these drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as diclofenac (Voltaren, Cataflam, others), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others), naproxen (Anaprox, Naprosyn, others), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Here's the situation with cilantro and Abciximab (ReoPro). Abciximab is a powerful IV blood thinner given in the hospital, usually during heart procedures like stenting. It works by blocking platelets from clumping together to form clots. In test tube studies, cilantro extracts seem to do something similar, slowing platelets down a bit.

So in theory, stacking the two could nudge your bleeding risk a little higher, think easier bruising, oozing at the IV or catheter site, or bleeding gums. That said, this is purely theoretical lab data, and the small amount of cilantro you'd eat in food is very unlikely to matter. Since abciximab is only used under close hospital monitoring, your care team is already watching your bleeding carefully. If you take concentrated cilantro supplements or oil, just mention it to your doctor or pharmacist.
