Nortriptyline falls under PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS — the group Cilantro interacts with.

Evidence from in vitro research suggests that coriandrin, a constituent of cilantro, has photosensitizing effects. Theoretically, concomitant use with photosensitizing drugs might increase photosensitivity. Some drugs that cause photosensitivity include amitriptyline (Elavil), quinolones (Ciprofloxacin, others), sulfa drugs (Septra, Bactrim, others), and tetracycline.

Here's the gist: nortriptyline can already make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, meaning you may sunburn faster or react more strongly to UV rays. Cilantro contains a compound called coriandrin that, in lab studies, also seems to increase sun sensitivity. So in theory, pairing the two could add up and make your skin even more prone to burning.

I want to be honest about the strength here: this is theoretical, based only on test-tube research, not on real patients. Eating cilantro as a food in your tacos or salsa is very unlikely to cause any problem. Concentrated cilantro supplements or essential oil are where I'd be more cautious. Either way, using good sunscreen is a smart move. Check with your pharmacist if you have questions.
