Fluoxetine falls under PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS — the group Cilantro interacts with.

Evidence from in vitro research suggests that coriandrin, a constituent of cilantro, has photosensitizing effects. Theoretically, concomitant use with photosensitizing drugs might increase photosensitivity. Some drugs that cause photosensitivity include amitriptyline (Elavil), quinolones (Ciprofloxacin, others), sulfa drugs (Septra, Bactrim, others), and tetracycline.

Here's the simple version: fluoxetine (Prozac) can make your skin a little more sensitive to sunlight in some people, meaning you may burn faster than usual. Cilantro contains a compound called coriandrin that, in test-tube studies, also seems to add some sun sensitivity. Put the two together and the worry is that your skin could be slightly more prone to sunburn or a rash.

But keep this in perspective. This is a theoretical concern based on lab research, not real patient reports, and the cilantro you eat in salsa or on tacos is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated cilantro supplements or essential oil would be the bigger question mark. Easy move either way: wear sunscreen and limit long sun exposure.
