In laboratory research, cnidium has been shown to have sedative and hypnotic effects, possibly related to constituent coumarins. Theoretically, cnidium may potentiate the effects of barbiturates, other sedatives, and anxiolytics.

Nitrazepam is a benzodiazepine sleeping pill, so it already does a good job of making you drowsy and relaxed. The concern here is simple: in lab and animal studies, cnidium (and its coumarin compounds like osthole) showed its own calming, sleep-promoting effects. Stacking two things that both push you toward sleep could add up.

If they work together, you might feel more drowsy, dizzy, foggy, or unsteady than usual, with a higher chance of next-morning grogginess or a stumble. I want to be honest, though: this is theoretical and based only on animal and test-tube research, not human studies, so we can't say how strong the effect really is. To be safe, check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and don't change your nitrazepam on your own.
