Tresiba (insulin degludec) is your long-acting background insulin, steadily lowering blood sugar through the day. Here's the concern with colocynth: a few small studies suggest it can lower fasting blood sugar on its own. Stack that on top of your insulin and the two could push your blood sugar down too far, leading to hypoglycemia. That can show up as shakiness, sweating, a racing heart, confusion, or in serious cases passing out.

The evidence here is fairly limited, so this is more of a theoretical, watch-it situation than a sure thing. Honestly though, colocynth is a harsh and genuinely toxic laxative, so I'd steer clear of it regardless. Please talk with your doctor or pharmacist before mixing anything new with your insulin.

What Is Insulin Degludec (rDNA Origin) Injection Used For?

Brand name: Tresiba

Insulin degludec (brands: Insulin Degludec, Tresiba) is indicated to improve glycemic control (blood sugar management) in patients 1 year of age and older with diabetes mellitus — both type 1 and type 2.

It is not recommended for treating diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous complication where acids build up in the blood). In patients with type 1 diabetes, it must be used together with a short-acting insulin.
