Here's the idea behind this one. Dong Quai contains plant compounds that were once thought to act a little like estrogen in the body. The concern on file is that, in large supplement amounts, these compounds could compete with your prescribed estrogen at the same receptors and slightly blunt how well your hormone therapy works. In real life that might look like hot flashes, night sweats, or vaginal dryness creeping back even though you're taking your dose.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. It's theoretical and based mostly on lab and animal data, and studies haven't clearly shown Dong Quai behaves like estrogen in people. So it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it, but it isn't a reason to panic or change your estrogen on your own.
