Lansoprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Eleuthero interacts with.

Theoretically, eleuthero might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro and animal research suggest that standardized extracts of eleuthero might inhibit CYP3A4. However, research in healthy human volunteers has found that taking eleuthero 485 mg twice daily for 14 days does not inhibit CYP3A4 drug metabolism.

Here's the short version on pairing eleuthero with your lansoprazole (Prevacid). On paper, eleuthero was once thought to slow down a liver enzyme called CYP3A4, which helps break lansoprazole down. If that happened, lansoprazole could build up a bit and you might notice more of its usual mild effects, like headache, stomach upset, or diarrhea.

But here's the reassuring part: when researchers gave healthy people eleuthero (about 485 mg twice a day for two weeks), it did not actually slow this enzyme. So this concern stayed mostly theoretical. It's rated minor and unlikely. Lansoprazole also has a wide safety margin, so small shifts rarely cause trouble. Still, mention any supplement to your pharmacist before starting it.

What Is Lansoprazole Used For?

Brand name: Prevacid

Lansoprazole is prescribed for a range of conditions where excess stomach acid is the problem. It treats active stomach and duodenal ulcers (sores in the stomach or upper small intestine), helps heal ulcers caused by NSAID pain relievers, and can reduce the risk of those ulcers coming back.

It's also used for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis (acid damage to the esophagus), and rare conditions where the stomach makes far too much acid — like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. When combined with antibiotics, it helps wipe out H. pylori bacteria that cause recurring ulcers.
