Benazepril, Hydrochlorothiazide falls under Antihypertensive Drugs — the group Fenugreek interacts with.

Fenugreek may also have an additive effect on blood pressure-lowering medications. Studies on animals have shown that fenugreek seed can decrease both systolic and diastolic blood pressure by up to 22% when combined with metoprolol. Therefore, it is essential to monitor your blood pressure regularly if you are taking fenugreek and metoprolol together or any other antihypertensive drugs.

Lotensin HCT pairs benazepril (an ACE inhibitor) with hydrochlorothiazide (a water pill), and both work to bring your blood pressure down. The idea here is pretty simple: fenugreek, taken as a concentrated supplement, may have its own mild blood pressure lowering effect. Stack that on top of your medication and the two could add together, nudging your pressure a little lower than expected.

If your blood pressure dips too far, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy, or tired, especially when standing up quickly. The good news is this is rated a minor interaction based mostly on animal data, so the evidence is thin. A sprinkle of fenugreek in cooking is very unlikely to matter. If you take it as a daily supplement, just check your blood pressure at home and let your pharmacist or doctor know.
