ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Bosentan
Bosentan falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Flaxseed Oil interacts with.
Some clinical evidence suggests that long-term consumption of flaxseed oil can modestly lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure, while other clinical research shows no effect.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with bosentan and flaxseed oil. Bosentan already relaxes and widens blood vessels to ease the high pressure in your lungs, and that can nudge your overall blood pressure down a bit. Flaxseed oil might also lower blood pressure a little over time, so in theory the two together could add up and leave you feeling lightheaded, dizzy, or wobbly when you stand up quickly.
I want to be honest, though: this is a theoretical concern based on how things work, and the studies on flaxseed and blood pressure are mixed. Many people use both without trouble. Bosentan isn't a prodrug, so flaxseed doesn't change how it's activated. If you notice dizziness or unusual fatigue, check in with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.
