ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen
Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Fulvic Acid interacts with.
In vitro evidence shows that fulvic acid, formed from the oxidation and polymerization of protocatechuic acid, can shorten prothrombin time in human plasma, increasing the risk of clot formation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's something worth knowing about combining fulvic acid with Combogesic (the acetaminophen and ibuprofen combo). The interaction we have on file is based on the idea that fulvic acid might make blood clot a little more easily, which could work against blood thinners. The thing is, ibuprofen actually has a mild blood-thinning side of its own, since it temporarily affects how platelets stick together. In theory, fulvic acid could nudge against that mild effect.
But honestly, this is very weak, lab-dish evidence only, not something proven in real people. For most folks taking Combogesic now and then for pain, this isn't a practical worry. If you take a daily blood thinner too, or use these often, just check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding fulvic acid.
