Garden cress has shown hypotensive effects in animal research and increases levels and effects of the antihypertensive medications amlodipine and losartan. This has not been shown in humans.

Ziac combines two blood pressure lowering medicines: bisoprolol (a beta blocker that slows the heart) and hydrochlorothiazide (a water pill). Garden cress has shown its own mild blood pressure lowering effect in animal studies, so the concern is simply additive. If both push your pressure down at once, you could feel more lightheaded, dizzy, tired, or shaky, especially when standing up quickly.

Here is the honest part: this is theoretical and based only on lab and animal data, not people. Eating garden cress as a food is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated seed supplements are the bigger question mark. If you want to use those regularly, check with your pharmacist or doctor and keep an eye on your readings.

Evidence from animal research suggests that garden cress has diuretic effects and can increase the urinary excretion of potassium. This has not been shown in humans. Initiation of potassium supplementation or an increase in potassium supplement dose may be necessary for some patients.

Here's the gist with Ziac: that pill already contains hydrochlorothiazide, a water pill that tends to flush potassium out through your urine. Garden cress, at least in animal studies, seems to act a bit like a mild diuretic too and may push out extra potassium. So the worry is mainly about stacking two things that lower potassium at the same time.

I want to be straight with you, though: this is only seen in lab and animal research, not in people, so it's more theoretical than proven. Eating garden cress in normal food amounts is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated seed supplements are where I'd be a little more cautious. If you go that route, ask your doctor about checking your potassium and watch for cramps, weakness, or an irregular heartbeat.
