Benactyzine, Meprobamate falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Goldenseal interacts with.

Theoretically, goldenseal might increase the sedative effects of CNS depressants.
Goldenseal contains berberine. Animal research shows that berberine can have sedative effects. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Deprol combines meprobamate, a sedative anti-anxiety medicine, with benactyzine. Goldenseal contains berberine, and in animal studies berberine showed some calming, sedating effects. The concern here is simply that two things that can make you drowsy might add up. Meprobamate already tends to cause sleepiness, slowed thinking, dizziness, and reduced coordination, so in theory pairing it with goldenseal could leave you feeling more groggy than usual.

I want to be honest about how shaky this is: this sedation has not actually been reported in people, only suggested from lab and animal work. So it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, before adding goldenseal, check with your pharmacist or doctor, and avoid driving until you know how the combination affects you.
