Here's the gist for Clobazam (Onfi, Sympazan), which is a benzodiazepine that calms overactive brain signals and can make you drowsy on its own. The concern with goldenseal is simply about overlap: in animal studies, the berberine in goldenseal showed a mild sedative effect. So in theory, pairing the two could add up to more sleepiness, dizziness, or feeling foggy and unsteady than the clobazam alone.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. This is a theoretical concern based on lab and animal work, and that calming effect hasn't actually been seen in people. I'm not telling you to stop either one. Just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before combining them, and watch for extra drowsiness if you do.

Clobazam is used as an add-on (adjunctive) treatment for seizures linked to Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS), a severe form of childhood-onset epilepsy. It is approved for patients 2 years of age and older.

This indication applies to all available forms: Sympazan (dissolving oral film), Onfi (tablets and oral suspension), and generic clobazam tablets and oral suspension.
