Here's the simple version: both Horizant (gabapentin enacarbil) and Griffonia can make you sleepy on their own. Gabapentin enacarbil already tends to cause drowsiness, dizziness, and that slowed-down feeling, especially when you first start it. Griffonia provides 5-HTP, which in studies has also been linked to drowsiness. So stacking them together could leave you feeling more tired or foggy than you expect.

I'll be honest, this concern is theoretical, based on how the two work rather than on hard studies of this exact pairing. It's not about one changing the other's blood levels. Still, please don't drive or do anything risky until you know how the combo affects you, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Griffonia.

About Gabapentin

What Is Gabapentin Used For?

Brand name: Horizant

Gabapentin (brands include Neurontin, Relgaabi, Gabarone, Gralise, and Horizant) is primarily used to manage postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) — the nerve pain that lingers after a shingles outbreak — in adults. Neurontin, Relgaabi, Gabarone, and gabapentin capsules, tablets, and oral solution are also used as add-on therapy for partial onset seizures (a type of epilepsy) in adults and children aged 3 and older.

Horizant (gabapentin enacarbil extended-release tablet) has two specific approvals: treatment of moderate-to-severe primary restless legs syndrome (RLS) in adults, and management of postherpetic neuralgia in adults. Horizant is not recommended for people who need to sleep during the day and stay awake at night. Gralise is approved only for postherpetic neuralgia and cannot be substituted for other gabapentin products due to its different release profile.
