Dirithromycin falls under MACROLIDE ANTIBIOTICS — the group Hedge Mustard interacts with.

Theoretically, taking hedge mustard with macrolide antibiotics might increase the risk of cardiac glycoside toxicity.

The flowering above ground parts of hedge mustard contain cardioactive glycosides. Macrolide antibiotics appear to increase the gastrointestinal absorption of oral digoxin. Theoretically, concomitant use of macrolide antibiotics might increase the absorption of the cardiac glycosides found in hedge mustard.

Here's the thing about pairing hedge mustard with dirithromycin: the worry isn't really about the antibiotic itself getting stronger or weaker. Instead, hedge mustard naturally contains heart-active compounds called cardiac glycosides (the same family as digoxin). Macrolide antibiotics like dirithromycin can bump up how much of these glycosides your gut absorbs, so in theory the herb's heart effects could be amplified.

If that happened, you might notice things like nausea, a slow or irregular heartbeat, or feeling unusually dizzy or off. I want to be honest though: this is theoretical, based on how these compounds behave rather than real-world reports. Still, since it touches the heart, I'd skip the hedge mustard while you're on this antibiotic and check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
