Here's the thing about pairing henbane with thioridazine: they both dry you out and slow certain body functions in the same way. Thioridazine already carries its own anticholinergic punch, and henbane's alkaloids (hyoscyamine, scopolamine, atropine) pile right on top. This isn't about one drug being broken down by the other. It's a simple case of two things doing the same job at once, so the effects add up.

What might that feel like? Worse dry mouth, blurry vision, constipation, trouble urinating, a racing heart, confusion, or overheating. In older folks especially, that confusion can get serious. This warning is based on how these compounds work rather than direct studies, but I'd genuinely steer clear of henbane. Please talk with your pharmacist or doctor before combining anything like this.

What Is Thioridazine Used For?

Brand name: Mellaril

Thioridazine Hydrochloride tablets are used for the management of schizophrenia — but only in patients who have already tried at least two other antipsychotic medications without adequate results, either because those drugs didn't work well enough or caused intolerable side effects.

Because thioridazine carries serious heart-rhythm risks, it is considered a last-resort option for schizophrenia, not a first-line treatment. It is not approved for dementia-related psychosis or any other psychiatric condition.
