Here's the simple version: hops may have a mild calming, sleepy effect of its own, and cetirizine (Zyrtec) can also make some people drowsy even though it's considered a low-sedation antihistamine. Put them together and you might feel sleepier, foggier, or slower to react than you would with either one alone.

I'll be honest about the strength here though. This concern is mostly theoretical, based on how the two work and a bit of animal research on hops, not strong human studies. For most folks it's nothing dramatic. Still, if you notice extra grogginess, be careful driving or anything that needs full focus, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them regularly.

Hops are most often used for sleep and mild anxiety, frequently combined with valerian, but the human evidence is limited and not very strong. They are generally well tolerated when used short-term, though they may cause drowsiness, and should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding because their safety is unknown.

What Is Cetirizine Injection Used For?

Brand names: Cetirizine, Zyrtec, Quzyttir

Quzyttir (cetirizine injection) is approved to treat acute urticaria — a sudden outbreak of hives — in adults and in children 6 months of age and older. It is given by intravenous (IV) injection in a medically supervised setting.

Quzyttir is not recommended for children under 6 years of age who have impaired kidney or liver function.
