Here's the simple version: benazepril (Lotensin) already lowers your blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels. The concern with horny goat weed is that, at least in lab and animal studies, it may also nudge blood pressure downward. Stack those two together and the worry is that your pressure could dip a little too low.

That said, I want to keep this in perspective. This blood-pressure-lowering effect has only shown up in test-tube and animal research, not in real people, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. If your pressure did drop too far, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy, or faint, especially when standing up fast. Before adding this supplement, check with your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on your numbers.

Benazepril — sold as Lotensin and under its generic names Benazepril and Benazepril Hydrochloride — is approved to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of serious events like stroke and heart attack.
