In vitro research and animal research shows that horny goat weed can inhibit platelet aggregation and thrombus formation. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Enoxaparin (Lovenox) is a blood thinner you inject to keep clots from forming. The concern here is simple: horny goat weed might add to that blood-thinning effect. In lab dishes and animal studies, this herb slowed down platelets (the cells that help your blood clot) and made it harder for clots to form. Stack that on top of a medicine that already thins your blood, and in theory you could bruise or bleed more easily.

I want to be honest with you, though: this effect has only been seen in test tubes and animals, never reported in people, so the evidence is weak. Still, since bleeding is no small thing, please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two, and watch for unusual bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums.

About Enoxaparin Injection

What Is Enoxaparin Injection Used For?

Brand name: Lovenox

Enoxaparin injection is used to prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) — blood clots in the legs — in people having abdominal surgery, hip replacement surgery, or knee replacement surgery, and in hospitalized patients who are largely immobile due to acute illness. It is also used to treat acute DVT, with or without a pulmonary embolism (a clot in the lungs), both in the hospital and at home.

It is also used alongside aspirin to reduce dangerous complications of unstable angina and non-Q-wave heart attack, and to treat acute STEMI (a severe type of heart attack involving full blockage of a coronary artery) in patients who receive clot-dissolving therapy or undergo a procedure to open the blocked artery (PCI).
