Lansoprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Indian Long Pepper interacts with.

Theoretically, Indian long pepper might increase the effects and adverse effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that piperine, a constituent of Indian long pepper, inhibits CYP3A4.

Here's the gist for lansoprazole (Prevacid). Your body clears this acid reducer partly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 (and another one, CYP2C19). The piperine in Indian long pepper can mildly slow CYP3A4 in lab studies, so in theory it could let a bit more lansoprazole linger in your system. That might nudge up common effects like headache, diarrhea, stomach upset, or nausea.

I'll be honest with you though: this is a theoretical concern based only on test-tube work, not real patient cases, and lansoprazole is generally a forgiving, well-tolerated drug. A pinch of this spice in food almost certainly won't matter. If you take concentrated long pepper supplements regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on things.

About Lansoprazole

What Is Lansoprazole Used For?

Brand name: Prevacid

Lansoprazole is prescribed for a range of conditions where excess stomach acid is the problem. It treats active stomach and duodenal ulcers (sores in the stomach or upper small intestine), helps heal ulcers caused by NSAID pain relievers, and can reduce the risk of those ulcers coming back.

It's also used for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis (acid damage to the esophagus), and rare conditions where the stomach makes far too much acid — like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. When combined with antibiotics, it helps wipe out H. pylori bacteria that cause recurring ulcers.
