Anagrelide falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Ip-6 interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of IP-6 with drugs that affect platelet aggregation may increase the risk of bleeding. In vitro IP-6 can inhibit platelet aggregation. This effect has not been demonstrated in humans.

Here's the simple version. Anagrelide already works to lower your platelet count and slow down how your platelets clump together. In lab dish studies, IP-6 has shown a mild ability to do something similar, meaning it may make platelets a little less sticky too. Stack those two effects and, in theory, you could lean toward easier bruising or bleeding, like nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or cuts that take longer to stop.

The big caveat: this is only a theoretical concern from test-tube work, and it has not been shown to happen in real people. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since Anagrelide directly affects your platelets, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding an IP-6 supplement so they can keep an eye on you.

What Is Anagrelide Used For?

Brand name: Agrylin

Anagrelide — sold as Agrylin and as generic anagrelide capsules — is used to treat thrombocythemia secondary to myeloproliferative neoplasms. That means it's prescribed when a bone marrow disorder causes the body to produce too many platelets, raising the risk of dangerous blood clots.

By bringing platelet counts down to a safer range, anagrelide also helps reduce related symptoms, including bleeding and clotting events (thrombo-hemorrhagic events).
