Ip-6 and Rosuvastatin

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Rosuvastatin and Ip-6 in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Rosuvastatin

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Rosuvastatin is filed under 4 classifications — including hmg-coa reductase inhibitors ("statins"), hepatotoxic drugs, oral drugs. Ip-6 has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs (moderate) — and none of Rosuvastatin’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What Rosuvastatin’s Own FDA Label Lists

This is not an interaction — none of it involves Ip-6. These are the most notable effects listed in the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Rosuvastatin’s own FDA label, for the medication by itself. Knowing the drug’s own list makes it easier to work out the likely cause if something new turns up while you take both. 10 of them are worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

  • A change in thyroid levels Worth acting on
  • Severe muscle breakdown Worth acting on
  • Muscle weakness Worth acting on
  • Memory problems Worth acting on
  • Pancreatitis Worth acting on
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes Worth acting on
  • High blood sugar Worth acting on
  • Confusion Worth acting on
  • A severe skin reaction Worth acting on
  • Low mood Worth acting on

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Rosuvastatin. Read the label on DailyMed › Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 223,851 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Rosuvastatin that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Ip-6’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Ip-6 side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Ip-6 has no side effects.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Rosuvastatin page

“Rosuvastatin (Crestor, Ezallor) is a statin taken daily for years to lower cholesterol, and its supplement list deserves real scrutiny, not a quick skim. Five of the 63 ingredients on file carry a major rating, headed by grapefruit, which can raise statin blood levels, and by heavy drinking, since beer and wine compound the strain this…”

About Ip-6

What is Ip-6?

  • Antioxidant support
  • Cancer prevention interest
  • Kidney stone prevention
  • Heart and immune support
  • Reducing excess iron

IP-6 (inositol hexaphosphate, also called phytic acid or phytate) is a natural compound found in high-fiber plant foods and sold as a supplement, often paired with inositol. It is most studied as an antioxidant and mineral binder, but human evidence for its popular uses—such as cancer prevention—is limited and not conclusive. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have low mineral levels or a chronic condition.

Naturally found in whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds; supplements are usually made from rice bran or corn · Capsules, tablets, powders (often combined with inositol)

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Ip-6 is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Ip-6 record says about it on its own.

Ip-6: dosing

There is no officially established or standardized dose for IP-6 supplements. Products vary widely, and many combine IP-6 with inositol. The best approach is to follow the directions on the product label and not exceed them.

About Rosuvastatin

What Is Rosuvastatin Used For?

Brand names: Crestor, Ezallor

Rosuvastatin tablets are used alongside diet changes to lower LDL-C ("bad" cholesterol), total cholesterol, and triglycerides (blood fats), and to raise HDL-C ("good" cholesterol) in adults with high cholesterol or mixed cholesterol problems. They are also used in adults with very high triglycerides, a condition called primary dysbetalipoproteinemia (Type III, a genetic fat-metabolism disorder), and to slow the buildup of plaque in arteries (atherosclerosis).

In people without established heart disease but with multiple risk factors, rosuvastatin tablets can reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and procedures to open blocked arteries. For children and teens aged 8 and older with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH, an inherited high-cholesterol condition), the tablet form is used to lower LDL-C after diet alone has not worked. Crestor tablets are also approved to treat homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH, a more severe inherited form) in adults and in children aged 7 and older.
