What Is Cidofovir Injection Used For?

Brand name: Vistide

Cidofovir injection is approved specifically for treating CMV retinitis — a sight-threatening eye infection caused by cytomegalovirus (CMV) — in adults with AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome).

It is not approved for other CMV infections such as CMV pneumonia or gastrointestinal disease, for CMV disease in newborns, or for CMV in people who do not have HIV.
