Treprostinil (Inh) falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Ip-6 interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of IP-6 with drugs that affect platelet aggregation may increase the risk of bleeding. In vitro IP-6 can inhibit platelet aggregation. This effect has not been demonstrated in humans.

Here's the connection worth knowing: inhaled treprostinil (Tyvaso) does more than relax the blood vessels in your lungs, it also makes platelets a little less likely to clump together. IP-6 has shown a similar mild platelet-slowing effect in lab dishes. Put the two together and the theory is that your blood could clot a touch more slowly, which might mean easier bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding that takes longer to stop.

The honest part: this has only been seen in test-tube studies, never proven in people, and the odds of a real problem are considered low. Still, since treprostinil already nudges platelets, it's smart to mention any IP-6 supplement to your pharmacist or doctor rather than starting or stopping anything on your own.

What Is Treprostinil Oral Inhalation Used For?

Brand name: Tyvaso

Treprostinil oral inhalation is used to treat two serious lung conditions that raise pressure in the blood vessels of the lungs. It helps improve how much physical activity you can do.

Tyvaso inhalation solution and Tyvaso DPI are both indicated to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH; WHO Group 1) and pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD; WHO Group 3). Clinical studies establishing effectiveness in PAH primarily included patients with moderate symptoms (NYHA Class III) whose PAH was idiopathic, heritable, or related to connective tissue disease. Studies in PH-ILD primarily included patients with idiopathic interstitial pneumonia, combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema, or connective tissue disease-related lung disease.
