Here's the short version: your Diovan HCT already does two things at once. The valsartan part relaxes blood vessels, and the hydrochlorothiazide part is a water pill that makes you pee out extra fluid and salt. Juniper is thought to have its own mild water-pill effect, so stacking the two could, in theory, push things a little too far in the same direction.

If that happened, you might notice more lightheadedness when you stand up, extra trips to the bathroom, dehydration, or a bigger dip in potassium and sodium. I want to be honest though, this is a theoretical, minor concern based on how juniper works, not strong human studies. A splash of gin flavor is unlikely to matter, but regular juniper supplements are worth running past your pharmacist or doctor first.
