Here's the gist for folks taking Ingrezza (valbenazine) for tardive dyskinesia. This isn't about how your body breaks the medicine down. Instead, it's about overlapping effects. Valbenazine can already make you feel drowsy or tired, and lemon balm tends to have a mild calming, sleepy quality of its own. Put them together and those two relaxing effects may stack up.

What that could look like in real life is more sleepiness, grogginess, or feeling a bit slowed down or foggy than usual. To be fair, this is mostly a theoretical concern based on smaller studies, so it's not a hard no. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding lemon balm, especially if you drive or already feel tired on your dose.

What Is Valbenazine Used For?

Brand name: Ingrezza

Valbenazine — sold as Ingrezza and INGREZZA Sprinkle — is approved for two conditions in adults. The first is tardive dyskinesia, a movement disorder that causes uncontrolled, repetitive facial or body movements, often brought on by long-term use of certain psychiatric medications. The second is chorea associated with Huntington's disease, which refers to the involuntary, dance-like jerking movements that are a hallmark of that condition.

Both Ingrezza and INGREZZA Sprinkle are approved for both of these uses.
