Here's the gist for your combination product (which pairs amphotericin with the antibiotic tetracycline). There's a lab-based idea that licorice may nudge up the activity of a cellular pump called P-glycoprotein. That pump can push some medicines back out of your gut, so in theory more active pumping could mean a little less of these drugs gets absorbed, which could make the antibiotic less effective at clearing your infection.

I want to be honest about how soft this is: it comes only from test-tube and animal work, not from people, so we really don't know if it matters in real life. To be safe, especially with regular glycyrrhizin licorice, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them.

Licorice root is a traditional remedy used for sore throats, coughs, and digestive complaints, but solid human evidence is limited for most uses. Regular licorice contains glycyrrhizin, which can raise blood pressure and lower potassium when taken in large amounts or for a long time, so deglycyrrhizinated (DGL) products are often preferred. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have high blood pressure, heart, or kidney problems.
