STIMULANT DRUGS
Why this applies to Clemastine Fumarate, Phenylpropanolamine
Clemastine Fumarate, Phenylpropanolamine falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group Methylsynephrine interacts with.
Some stimulant drugs include amphetamine, caffeine, diethylpropion (Tenuate), methylphenidate, phentermine (Ionamin), pseudoephedrine (Sudafed, others), and many others.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to know about Tavist-D: it contains phenylpropanolamine, which is itself a stimulant-type decongestant that narrows blood vessels and can nudge up your blood pressure and heart rate. Methylsynephrine works in a very similar way, acting like your body's adrenaline. Stacking two stimulants together is the concern here.
When you combine them, those effects can add up, so the worry is higher blood pressure, a faster or pounding heartbeat, jitteriness, or headache. This is a theoretical caution based on how both ingredients work, not on hard studies, so it isn't a guaranteed reaction. Still, methylsynephrine isn't an approved or safe supplement to begin with, so I'd steer clear of it. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing the two.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Clemastine Fumarate, Phenylpropanolamine page
“Tavist-D combines clemastine, a sedating antihistamine, with phenylpropanolamine, a stimulant decongestant, so supplements can pull it in either direction, and this list deserves genuine attention rather than a quick skim. Seven of the 111 ingredients on file rate major, and most of the trouble follows two patterns.”

About Methylsynephrine
What is Methylsynephrine?

- Athletic and workout performance
- Appetite control
Methylsynephrine (also called oxilofrine) is a synthetic stimulant sometimes added to weight-loss and pre-workout products, but it is not a legal or approved dietary ingredient in the United States. It has been linked to serious heart and blood pressure problems, and there is no good evidence it is safe or effective for these uses, so it is best avoided.
