STIMULANT DRUGS
Why this applies to Ephedrine, Hydroxyzine, Theophylline
Ephedrine, Hydroxyzine, Theophylline falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group Phenpromethamine interacts with.
Phenpromethamine is a sympathomimetic compound with stimulant properties.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
The combo medicine Marax already contains ephedrine (a stimulant decongestant) plus theophylline (an asthma medicine that also stimulates the heart), along with hydroxyzine. Phenpromethamine is itself a stimulant in the amphetamine family. So stacking it with this product means piling one stimulant on top of two others. The concern here is additive effects, not one drug blocking the other.
Realistically, that could mean a faster or pounding heartbeat, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, or even more serious heart rhythm problems. This is based on how these drugs work, not on hard studies, but the logic is sound. On top of that, phenpromethamine is an unapproved ingredient I'd avoid entirely. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing anything like this.
- Cohen PA, Travis JC, Vanhee C, Ohana D, Venhuis BJ. Nine prohibited stimulants found in sports and weight loss supplements: deterenol, phenpromethamine (Vonedrine), oxilofrine, octodrine, beta-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA), 1,3-dimethylamylamine (1,3-DMA
