Naloxegol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Polypodium Leucotomos interacts with.

Theoretically, Polypodium leucotomos might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro and animal research suggests that Polypodium leucotomos can decrease the metabolism of midazolam by a mechanism possibly related to the inhibition of CYP3A4. However, a small study in humans suggests that taking Polypodium leucotomos with midazolam does not affect the metabolism of midazolam.

Here's the gist with naloxegol (Movantik): your liver clears it using an enzyme called CYP3A4. Polypodium leucotomos has shown, in lab and animal studies, that it might slow that enzyme down a little. If that happened, naloxegol levels could creep up, and the usual side effects (belly cramping, diarrhea, nausea, or gas) could feel a bit stronger. Naloxegol stays outside the brain, so this isn't about losing your pain relief.

The reassuring part: this is mostly theoretical, and a small human study using a similar drug showed no real change. The interaction is rated minor and unlikely. Culinary or normal supplement amounts probably won't cause trouble, but it's always worth a quick check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Naloxegol Used For?

Brand name: Movantik

Movantik (naloxegol) is used to treat opioid-induced constipation (OIC) — constipation caused by opioid pain medications — in adults who have chronic non-cancer pain. It is also approved for adults with chronic pain related to prior cancer or its treatment, as long as they don't need frequent (roughly weekly) increases in their opioid dose.

It is not indicated for constipation from other causes, and it is not approved for use in children.
