SKELETAL MUSCLE RELAXANTS
Why this applies to Alcuronium
Alcuronium falls under SKELETAL MUSCLE RELAXANTS — the group Procaine interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the situation with these two. Alcuronium is a muscle relaxant given during surgery to keep your muscles still while you're under anesthesia. It works by blocking signals at the spot where nerves tell muscles to contract. Procaine, given into a vein, can add to that same blocking effect, so the muscle relaxation may go deeper and last longer than expected.
The real worry here is the muscles you need to breathe. If they stay too relaxed, breathing can become weak or stop, which is why combining them this way is flagged as a serious concern. This is based on how the drugs work rather than lots of patient data, but it's taken seriously. The good news: both are hospital-only drugs, so your anesthesia team handles this. Always tell them about any procaine products you've used.

About Procaine
What is Procaine?
- Local anesthesia (medical/dental use)
- Marketed 'anti-aging' supplements
- General well-being and vitality claims
- Mood and energy support (unproven)
Procaine is a synthetic local anesthetic (best known by the brand name Novocaine) used by doctors and dentists to numb tissue. It is not a true dietary supplement or herb, and the 'anti-aging' products built around it (such as GH3 or 'Gerovital') have weak evidence and real safety concerns. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using any product containing procaine.
