Here's the situation with these two. Dantrolene is a muscle relaxant most often given in the hospital, including as an emergency drug for a serious reaction called malignant hyperthermia. Procaine is a local anesthetic in the same family as drugs that affect the heart's electrical and muscle activity. The worry is that combining intravenous (IV) procaine with dantrolene could add up to too much depression of heart and muscle function, which is why giving them together this way is something doctors avoid.

To be fair, this is a theoretical caution based on how these drugs work, not a long list of real cases. Still, because the potential effects on your heart and breathing are serious, it's treated carefully. If you're receiving dantrolene, your care team is managing this. Never mix these on your own, and ask your pharmacist or doctor with any questions.
