Here's the simple version: both procaine and metaxalone (Skelaxin) can have a calming, sedating effect on your body. Procaine works on nerves, and metaxalone is a muscle relaxant that already tends to make people drowsy and lightheaded. Stacking the two could deepen those effects, leaving you more sleepy, dizzy, or slow to react than you'd expect.

I'll be honest with you, this warning is mostly theoretical, based on how these drugs behave rather than lots of real-world reports. It really points at injected (intravenous) procaine, which is something a doctor gives, not a supplement you'd take at home. Still, if you're using any procaine-containing product alongside metaxalone, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first so they can check it's safe for you.

Metaxalone tablets are used to help relieve discomfort caused by acute (short-term), painful musculoskeletal conditions — things like muscle strains, sprains, and similar injuries. It is meant to be used together with rest, physical therapy, and other treatments, not as a stand-alone fix.

This use applies to adults and adolescents 13 years of age and older. Metaxalone tablets are available as the branded product Skelaxin and as a generic.
