In vitro, purple nut sedge inhibits platelet aggregation. Theoretically, purple nut sedge might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
Some anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Here's the gist for anagrelide (Agrylin). Your medication already lowers your platelets to keep clots from forming. In lab studies (test tube, not people), purple nut sedge also seems to slow platelets from sticking together. So the worry is simple: stacking the two could nudge your bleeding risk a bit higher.

In real life that might look like easier bruising, bleeding gums, nosebleeds, or bleeding that takes longer to stop. I want to be honest though, this is theoretical and based only on very early lab work, so we don't have human proof it actually happens. Still, since anagrelide already affects platelets, I'd loop in your doctor or pharmacist before adding this supplement rather than guessing.

Brand name: Agrylin

Both Agrylin and generic anagrelide capsules are used to treat thrombocythemia secondary to myeloproliferative neoplasms — a condition where bone marrow disorders cause dangerously high platelet counts. The goal is to bring platelet counts down, lower the risk of dangerous blood clots (thrombosis), and ease related symptoms including bleeding and clotting events.
